Kids Helping Kids, Inc. is an effort by kids in Alexandria to help children in need in Alexandria. Founded in 2002, Kids Helping Kids currently consists of a group of middle and high school students who have come together to form the backbone of the organization, recruiting youth volunteers, spreading awareness of the event, gathering sponsors to donate supplies, and organizing the precise logistics of the event. Kids Helping Kids is a registered corporation in the state of Virginia and has a 501(c)3 non-profit status.
Now in its eighteenth year, Kids Helping Kids has raised over $215,000 for various children’s charities in Alexandria including Liberty’s Promise, Community Lodgings, YoKid…Stretch Your Limits, Alexandria Tutoring Consortium, Coats for Kids, the Alexandria Police Foundation, Carpenter’s Shelter, The Fund for Alexandria’s Child, Space of Her Own, Wright to Read, ALIVE! Child Development Center, Healthy Families Alexandria, Center for Alexandria’s Children, Child & Family Network Centers, the Alexandria Police Youth Camp, and Grandma Rita’s Children!
